1 Homework: Maintenance Sheet 30 via IXL

2 The Theoretical Probability of an event is the number of ways the event can occur (favorable outcomes) divided by the number of total outcomes. Is what you expect to happen, but it isn’t always what actually happens. Example : What is the theoretical probability of getting heads when flipping a coin? What is the theoretical probability of rolling a 5 on a die? Given the following list of colors. What is the theoretical probability of selecting red from a hat? -blue – red – green – red – orange – red

3 What do you know about a deck of cards?
What is the experimental probability of choosing a King? I can explain the difference between experimental and theoretical probability.

4 Trial is the performance of the experiment.
Experimental probability is the ratio of the number of times an event occurs to the total number of trials or times the activity is performed. Trial is the performance of the experiment. Experimental probability is frequently used in research and experiments of social sciences, behavioral sciences, economics and medicine # 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑐𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑙𝑠 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒 Error Analysis: Explain why the following statement is incorrect. The experimental probability of rolling a 2 was about 16.7%

5 I can explain the difference between experimental and theoretical probability. Spin/Dice/Coin Activity In your group, there are the materials for each station. Station 1- Roll a Die or Spin a Spinner Station 2- Flip a Coin Station 3- Roll a Colored Die or Spin a Colored Spinner. If choose to spin a spinner, specify which spinner you have. Write letter on paper, letter is on the back of the spinner. Work individually to complete the Spinner/Dice/Coin Handout. Once you have finished, share you results with the classmates in your group.

6 I can explain the difference between experimental and theoretical probability
½=50% 1/2-=50%

7 DD.3 Experimental probability
I can explain the difference between experimental and theoretical probability DD.1 Probability of simple events DD.3 Experimental probability

8 SNOWSTORM On a sheet of paper write down something that you have learned today. Once you have finished writing , ball up your piece of paper. When I say SNOWSTORM, throw your paper across the classroom. SHARE ! Choose a piece of paper, and share what your classmates have wrote.
