3. Political Parties Essay
On a sheet of paper - Using your notes and each group’s pamphlets –
Write a paragraph essay where you respond to the questions below:
RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING PROMPT: Is the two party system the most effective and best political system for the United States to have?
Begin with a clear, concise thesis and then include the following information in your essay:
What are political parties? What are the two major parties? What are third parties? What are some of the most significant third parties in the US today?
What are the stances of both Democrats and Republicans on the following issues – gun control, immigration and taxes?
What are the platforms of both the Libertarian and Green Parties? (What does each party believe in?) – What effect do third parties have in major elections?
Your conclusion should address the following question – after examining the stances of these parties and analyzing the two party system in the United States – do you believe a two party system is the most effective best political system for the US to have? Explain why or why not. If you do not believe it is the best, what alternative system could we have?

4. Presidential Debates
If your candidate won their primary – you are helping them prepare for the debate
Make sure they can answer any questions about your party’s stances on taxes, immigration and gun control
They also need to be aware of the other party’s stances on the same issues so they are ready to respond to what the other candidates are saying
Prepare a closing statement that your candidate can read at the end of the debate – their last chance to win people’s vote
If your candidate loses their primary – you are preparing questions to ask the candidates
Work with your group to create questions so everyone does not have the same questions
Must have one question for each party for each issue (write the party and issue for each question – For example: Green Party – Immigration)

Which candidate do you believe best understood and explained their stance on the major issues and won the debate? You must write one paragraph to support your choice
