1 5 Paragraph Essay Intro- Thesis Statement, 3 Main Points Body- Develop 3 Main Points, each main point should be written in a paragraph. Conclusion-Wrap it all up, Restate T.S.,3 Main Points, and the “Zinger” the closing sentence. Key point no new information in your conclusion.

2 Introduction: Answer back the question being asked. How is the President of the United States of America elected? Thesis Statement: The President of the United States of America is elected by the Electoral College. 3 main points: Campaigning, Issues, Winning his/her primary

3 Introduction: paragraph #1 (TS) The President of the United States of America is elected to office by the Electoral College. (1)He/she must also, win his/her party's nomination. (2) He/she has based their campaign on various issues. Another important way the President is elected is (3) how they present themselves to the nation in speeches and debates.

4 Body: 3 main points This is where you add your information and data that you have researched to your essay. Develop each main point in a paragraph.

5 Body: paragraph #2 First main point He/she must win their party’s nomination this is done in a form of a primary vote. They must have the support of their party in order to win the nomination. They do this by going to various states and campaigning. Once they have won their party’s nomination they can then run against the other parties for the president’s office.

6 Paragraph #3 Second main point The President elect has a certain platform that they make their opinions heard on the various issues at hand. These issues set them apart from their counter part. Some of these issues include the War in Iraq, the economy, and health care. Their ideas on how they handle these issues will decide if they make it to the office of President or not.

7 Paragraph #4 Third main point Another key point to winning the office of President is how the candidate presents him/herself to the nation in a form of debate and speeches. They present their plans to the nation by debating how they differ from the other candidate. These speeches and debates is another way they can be voted in to the office of President.

8 Conclusion: paragraph #5 In conclusion, (T.S.)the President of the United States of America is elected to office by the Electoral College. (1)He/she must also, win his/her party's nomination. (2)He/she has based their campaign on various issues. Another important way the President is elected is (3) how they present themselves to the nation in speeches and debates. (Wrap-up)All of this shows the intense process of becoming a President of the United States of America. (Zinger) Finally, it proves that every vote truly counts.
