1 How the Tudor Exam works
On a whiteboard, write down everything you know about the Tudor exam, including: Timings Types of questions/what you have to answer How to structure the answer Your Tudor exam will last 2hr30. Question 1 will contain 3 extracts from historians, and ask you how convincing they are You will have 1 hour to answer this question (20 mins per source) Structure per source (historians argument, convincing, unconvincing, overall judgement) This question is compulsory (you have to answer it!) There will then be 3 essay questions, you answer any two essay questions You will have 45 minutes per essay question (1hr30 in total for 2 essays) Structure: Introduction (define, criteria, judgement), for, against, conclusion You will need to cover the full chronology of the question

3 What does it mean to ‘restore’ and ‘develop’ the powers of the monarchy?
TASK: Using a whiteboard, brainstorm what you think it means by the terms ‘restore’ and ‘developed’ in relation to power of the Tudors monarchy/ RESTORE Restore means to ‘bring back’ or ‘re-establish’. Therefore restoring the power of the monarchy means brining back the power the monarchy once had. DEVELOP Develop means to grow and become more advanced or elaborate. Therefore developing the power of the monarchy means advancing/elaborating the powers that a monarch has. The first part of this lesson, will be tracking Elizabeth’s power as a monarch over the course of her reign. 10 TASK 2: You have been given a time frame to look at. Fill in your section of the line graph. Make sure you write your justification on your graph. You have been given page numbers to help you if you need. Do NOT write down everything in the book. TASK 1: Using a white board, brainstorm what you would expect to see if Elizabeth is a strong monarch, and equally if she is a weak monarch.
