When?
Often ends with “ly”
Quickly, quietly, secretly

11. Adjective: describes, modifies, or gives more information about a noun or pronoun.
Answers a question:
Which one?
What kind?
How many?
Large, purple, cute, ugly, heavy, happy

12. Prepositions: shows the relationship of a noun or pronoun to another word.
Picture a box!
Usually indicates the position of something
I looked for my keys in my purse.
My dog ran along the track with me.
Avoid ending sentences with prepositions!
WRONG: Where did you get that bag from?
CORRECT: From where did you get that bag?

13. Conjunction: used to connect clauses or sentences
Coordinating conjunction: FANBOYS
Subordinating conjunction: describe the relationship between a dependent clause and an independent clause
As, because, before, since, if, than, that, though, unless, until, whenever, wherever, whereas, while, why
Ex: We looked on top of the refrigerator, where Jenny often keeps a secret stash of candy.
