Your body can break carbohydrates down quickly and efficiently Carbohydrates are divided into 2 groups: simple and complex. The foods with carbs: starch, sugar, flour, grains, potatoes, and corn. Definition: A carbohydrate is an organic compound

3 Fibre Keeps the digestive system healthy and functioning properly.
Fibre aids and speeds up the excretion of waste and toxins from the body. Foods with fibre: Bran, flour, breads, brown rice, whole grain cereals, vegetables, edible peels of fruit, nuts and seeds. 2 Types: soluble Insoluble Definition: Food containing a high amount of such as carbohydrates, as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.

4 Vitamins vitamins help your body to function properly and even grow.
Foods that have vitamins are: milk, carrots, oranges, and leafy green vegetables There are two types of vitamins: fat soluble and water soluble . Definition: A vitamin is an organic compound required as a nutrient in tiny amounts by an organism There are 13 vitamins that are essential to us as humans.

5 Minerals They help your body grow.
Different minerals help different parts of your body. Meat has a high source of iron. Which is a mineral The two kinds of minerals are: macro minerals & trace minerals Definition: Any of the inorganic elements. Types of minerals are basically vitamins

6 water It hydrates you and makes your body work properly.
Water helps blood cells carry oxygen. Water has vitamins, that help your skin. Definition: A clear tasteless liquid, makes up 70% of your body liquid. Foods that have water are soup, fish, vegetables and fruits.

7 Fats Very important in the developing of the brain and nervous system.
Include nuts, oils, butter, and meats like beef. Very important in the developing of the brain and nervous system. This should be 30% of daily diet Fats have 2 types: Monounsaturated fats, Polyunsaturated fats Omega-3 fat Omega-6 fat Unhealthy fats: Saturated fats Trans fats Definition: consisting of or containing fat; greasy; oily foods.

8 Protein Protein builds up, maintains, and replaces the tissues in your body. Beef, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, nuts, seeds, and legumes like black beans and lentils. Are all high in protein For instance, your body uses protein to make haemoglobin the blood cells that carries oxygen to your body. Definition: Large group of nitrogenous organic compounds
