To draw a mapping diagram: 1. Draw 2 identical number lines Now use the mapping to link each input with it’s output this mapping is x ⟶ x (take each number on the input line and add 2 )

Use function machines to describe the rule that maps one set of numbers to another 5b We can work out what this function machine does from it’s inputs and outputs To find out: Put the data in order in a table Look at the difference between two x terms and their y terms Function machine is x ⟶ ⟶ ⟶ y x 2 4 6 9 y 8 14 20 29 x 2 4 y 8 14 X terms: The difference between 2 and 4 is +2 Y terms: The difference between 8 and 14 is + 6 to get from +2 to +6 we multiply by 3 This means the function machine has x3 in it x3 +2 30 June 2019
