Welcome to OUR 6th Grade Math Class

Now that you are in 6th grade:
You are now an independent learner. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???? It means that YOU are responsible for YOU. You should not need to depend on adults to take care of YOUR responsibilities.

Your Responsibilities
Getting to class on time Completing assignments to the BEST of your ability Working toward all teacher and school expectations Keeping up with your supplies Bringing EVERYTHING you need to class Accepting responsibility for your own actions Choosing your actions carefully

School Wide Expectations
Be seated upon entering the room, and follow directions the first time they are given Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking Be respectful of others; do not curse or tease

Math Classroom Expectations
Be respectful at all times Come to class prepared with all supplies and homework completed Class WILL begin on time Do all housekeeping necessities BEFORE tardy bell (sharpen pencils, restroom, turn in papers, etc…) All work MUST be done in pencil and use the proper format Follow all school-wide expectations

How Do I Behave Outside of Math
Bathroom: No more than 5 students at a time. NO congregating! Get done and go to class. Do not take your belongings in with you. Hallways: Keep voices low and in a conversational tone and volume. Do not stop. You can visit at lunch, so you need to always be moving to class. Keep your hallway clean. Be proud of your school. Pick up your papers, etc. Do not enter a classroom until the teacher tells you to go in.

How Do I Behave Outside of Math
Lunch Keep your voice at an appropriate tone and volume! This means that ONLY the people around you should hear you. Stay seated. Do NOT wander around. Use good manners with all staff and students Clean up your mess. You are responsible for you. Recess Get inside the fence and stay there Keep your hands, feet, etc. to yourself Play fairly and nicely Be listening any time the whistle blows When it is time to go in, get there quickly and be sure to do your part to pick up equipment.

Math Addendums Late Work: If you are absent:
It is due the NEXT SCHOOL DAY. It will be 25 points off your earned grade. You will be placed in ZAP if you do not have your homework. If you are absent: You are responsible. Look at the calendar, write the assignment down, get worksheets from folder if necessary. You may get notes from another student on your time.

If you are a responsible student:
Math can be fun We can do many activities You will learn a lot You will be successful You may be eligible for the ½ day of fun! This will be ½ of a day off campus later in the school year doing something great!

If you are not a responsible student:
You will have a warning from a teacher. You may get sentences. You might have lunch detention. You could receive a referral to “visit” with Mr. Crain.

You Are Now a 6th Grader You are growing up and with that comes new found freedoms. You have earned these. Also, you now have more responsibility. You can handle it! You are capable and with the right attitude you can do ANYTHING! It is time for you to show us who you are and set the standard for a great year!
