2 Examples of persuasive techniques:
Travel and Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. People travel now more than ever. They can do this because we earn more money, have more time off work and travel is getting cheaper. Places are becoming more accessible and easy to get to, as airports get bigger and more hotels and restaurants (for tourists) are created. Success Criteria: Your teacher will be assessing you on three areas. Research: Where in the world should we visit? Why should we go there? What's the appeal of this place? Examples and quotes – what can people do here? What are the attractions to coming here? Are there any bad things about this place? How about an “interview” with a local person?! Informative and persuasive writing: Include persuasive techniques, as you want to convince people it’s a fantastic place to go. Use specific and real life examples to inform the reader what is like there. Presentation: Clear communication and easy to read and understand. Engage your audience. Give, and explain, your ideas clearly. Examples of persuasive techniques: Rhetorical question. Rule of three. Repetition. Emotive language. Facts/data. Level Three. Identify a destination that people might want to go to. Give your own opinion as to why people should go there. Level Four. Describe the location of your chosen destination. Describe the positives and negatives of your chosen location. Use connectives in your writing. Clearly communicate your opinion of why people should go there. Level Five. Explain where your chosen location is in relation to nearby places, and write in detail as to what it is like here. Engage the listener by varying your vocabulary. Use persuasive devices to encourage people to want to go there. Level Six. Explain your points in detail. Use a complex and interesting range of vocabulary. Make well linked points– perhaps with a range of complex connectives. Use a range of persuasive devices well. Possible websites to start:
