3 Essential Question What similarities do we have to other people in the world; how are we different?

4 Standard SS6G8 The student will describe the cultural characteristics of Europe. a.Explain the diversity of European culture as seen in a comparison of German, Greek, Russian, French, and Italian languages, customs, and traditions.

5 Task For this assignment, you and four other teammates will be visiting foreign lands. When you return from your travels, your team will put together a travel brochure and share with your classmates what you have learned. You will also turn in 5 note cards with appropriate information detailing your individual research.

6 Process While on this visit, you will be learning about the languages, food, holidays, celebrations, tourist attractions, interesting facts, and people. In your team, take five minutes to agree on which job each person will take. No jobs can be shared. Languages and foods Holidays and celebrations Tourist attractions Interesting facts The people

7 Process Step 1 The teacher will assign you to a research team. Greece France Germany Russia Italy

8 Process Step 2: As a group, take five minutes to choose one place that you would all like to research. After five minutes, one person from each team must tell the teacher which place they have chosen. Each place can only be chosen by one team. The teacher will write the places on the board and cross out the ones that have already been chosen.

9 Process Step 3: Research Research will be done individually. You will perform all your research using websites provided in the resources section. Take notes using index cards with each group member having at least 5 cards.

10 Process Step 4: Using Microsoft Publisher, which can be found on your Citrix account, your group will compile the individual research into a travel brochure full of information and pictures. It will then be presented as a group to the entire class.
