4 King James I and King Charles I believed in:
Absolute monarchy: A king/ queen (etc.) with unlimited power Divine Rights of Kings: Belief that king’s power comes directly from God, so his decisions could not be questioned (represents God on Earth) In 1215 The Magna Carta restricted the power of the monarchy, giving power to the Parliament. 3 Restrictions are: The King must rule Lawfully No new tax without consent of the Parliament If accused of a crime, have the right to a trial by jury of peers
