Cold Harbor Fight This battle was lead by General Ulysses S. Grant on May 31- June just outside the capital of Richmond Virginia. He attacked based on poor information and invalid assumptions about the morale and military capabilities of the enemy. The Union army of the Potomac launched a massive frontal assault against the confederate army of Northern Virginia at Cold Harbor Virginia. Intended to break the battered confederate army and open the road to Richmond. The battle lasted two weeks. Back to Room 1

Soldiers Of Cold Harbor
Out of some 108,000 troops at the Second Battle of Cold Harbor, the Union suffered 13,000 casualties, while the Confederates suffered 2,500 casualties out of 62,000 troops. 12 General Meade The Battle of Cold Harbor was fought between the Federal Army of the Potomac under Major General George Meade and directly supervised by Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant, commander of all Union forces, and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia under General Robert E. Lee. Back to Room 2

General Robert E. Lee From May 31 through June 3, 1864, Union troops led by Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant and Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee battled at Cold Harbor, Virginia. Robert E. Lee ( ) served as a military officer in the U.S. Army, a West Point commandant and the legendary general of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War ( ). Back to Room 2

History of weapons The weapons used at Cold Harbor: Rifled muskets were the primary weapons (used the Minnie ball as a bullet which was a conical soft lead bullet that spun along grooves in the barrel when it was fired). Its range was yards. Back to Room 3

Civil War Rifle There are a total of 84 Civil War Guns ( ) - Small Arms of the American Civil War in the Military Factory. Entries are listed below in alphanumeric order (1-to-Z). Flag images indicative of country of origin and not necessarily the primary operator Back to Room 3

Minnie Ball Bullets The lead minie ball. The standard bullet used during the Civil War for both the North and South was the minie ball. French army Captain Claude Minie created this conical shaped lead bullet that had a hollowed out bottom in 1848. Back to Room 3

Artifact 11 Name Soldiers would wear black. Generals and high people would have stars or some type of representation on their outfit. Most soldiers aren’t dressed that different but have different things on there outfit depending on the rank Back to Room 4

Union Outfit Union soldiers wore blue with blue pants. This is important because without outfits or badges you wouldn't be able to identify who is who. This also can be a weakness because most soldiers aim for the person who is the rank the highest because without a leader the soldiers wouldn’t be lead Back to Room 4

Calvary And More The Calvary was back up so if you were in trouble Generals would send out for them and they would come and kill people. They were normally called when armies are in a desperate need of help. Most road on horses with rifles and swords. They were fast and they are affective when an armies is down and in need of help. The Union and Confederates had them and they would help if to many people were lost. Back to Room 4
