Indicator: 4.E.2A.2 Develop and use models to explain how water changes as it moves between the atmosphere and Earth’s surface during each phase of the water cycle (including evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and runoff).

3. Objective
The student will be able to explain and model the water cycle.

4. When you woke up this morning, was it raining outside?
Do you know the process rain goes through?

5. What is the Water Cycle?
The water cycle or hydrologic is a continuous cycle where water evaporates, travels into the air and becomes part of a cloud, falls down to earth as precipitation, and then evaporates again. This repeats again and again in a never-ending cycle.
How about we try to come up with our own definition. One that works for everybody.

6. Precipitation is water released from clouds in several forms.

7. Evaporation
Evaporation is the process by which water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapor.

8. Condensation
Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed into liquid water.

Clouds

9. Runoff Surface runoff is precipitation runoff over the landscape.
Another type of runoff is snowmelt runoff.
