The Water Cycle
2
The Water Cycle Also known as The Hydrologic Cycle
3
Definitions and Steps of The Water Cycle
Evaporation- When the sun heats up water in rivers, lakes, or oceans and goes into the air.
4
Definitions and Steps ( Cont. )
Water Vapor- Gas caused by evaporation Step 2 Condensation- Water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds. - Ex. Pour a glass of cold water and let it sit throughout the day. The water formed on the outside of the class in condensation.

Definitions and Steps ( cont. )
Precipitation- A lot of water condense the air that it can’t hold it anymore. Clouds become heavy and water falls back into the earth in a form of rain, hail, sleet or snow.
6
Snow- Form of Crystalline water ice precipitation
Rain – Liquid precipitation Snow- Form of Crystalline water ice precipitation Hail- Solid Precipitation Sleet- Rain and snow mixed

Definitions and Steps (cont.)
Collection- When water falls to the earth as precipitation, it sometimes falls back into the oceans, lakes, rivers, or land. If the precipitation falls on the land, it soaks it up and is called “ground water.” If it lands in the different types of water, the precipitation is part of The Water Cycle all over again.
