The Water Cycle By: Miss DeLuca

Objectives You will be able to identify and label the stages of the water cycle You will be able to write a short summary of the water cycle You will be able to draw a picture of the water cycle In this lesson you will learn to identify and label the different stages of the water cycle, as well as write a short summary and be able to draw a picture.

The Water Cycle The water cycle is the way the earth uses and recycles water. It is controlled by the sun. The water cycle consists of 4 main parts: - Evaporation - Condensation - Precipitation - Collection The water cycle is the way the earth uses and recycles water because we only have a limited amount. It is controlled by the sun. Also, the water cycle consists of four main parts: Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation, and Collection.

The Water Cycle This is an image of the water cycle. It shows you that evaporation is water moving towards the sky, condensation is the collection of water as clouds, and precipitation is rain, snow, sleet or it may come in a different form.

Evaporation Evaporation is when the sun heats up water and turns it into a gas, vapor, or steam and goes into the air. Evaporation is when the sun heats up water and turns it into a gas, vapor, or steam and goes into the air. This picture shows the water from a lake evaporating by changing into steam.

Condensation Condensation is when the water vapor in the air gets cold and turns back into liquid, which makes clouds. Condensation is when the water vapor in the air gets cold and turns back into liquid, which makes clouds. This picture shows clouds which, as I said before is water vapor turned back into liquid.

Precipitation Precipitation happens when the clouds have so much liquid in them that they can’t hold it any more. Precipitation comes in many forms like; rain, hail, sleet, or snow. Precipitation happens when the clouds have so much liquid in them that they can’t hold it any more. It can happen in many different forms like rain, hail, sleet, or snow.

Collection When water falls back to the earth it collects in various places like, lakes, rivers, ponds, and oceans. When water falls back to the earth it collects in various places like, lakes, rivers, ponds, and oceans. After the water is collected in these areas the cycle happens all over again.

Identify the Stages Condensation Precipitation Evaporation Collection
Stages: 1. Evaporation 2. Condensation 3. Precipitation 4. Collection

Activity With a partner you will draw a picture of the water cycle, label it, and write a short summary of how it works and why you think the water cycle is a good thing.

Summary You are now able to label and identify the stages of the water cycle You are able to tell me about the water cycle in your own words You can also draw a picture of the water cycle You are now able to label and identify the stages of the water cycle, you can tell me about the water cycle in your own words, and you are able to draw a picture of the water cycle.
