Good conductors of heat and electricity Have shiny, metallic luster Malleable – can be pounded/bent into shapes Ductile – can be drawn into wires

3 Examples of Metals Copper Gold Tin Nickel Iron Sodium Calcium

4 Non-Metals Located to the right of the bold line Properties:
Poor conductors of heat and electricity Dull, or earthy luster Shatter, or form powder when pounded Many are in the gaseous form

Oxygen Neon Sulfur Chlorine Carbon Iodine Nitrogen Helium

6 Metalloids Touch the bold line Properties
Have characteristics of metals and non-metals Properties vary with substance
