2 Topic: Understanding bullying in Hong Kong schools
How urgent is it needed for the schools to tackle the problem of bullying in Hong Kong?

3 Objectives: To understand common type of bullying and bullies found in school. To find out: it is serious problem and an urgent matter To propose way of presenting and tackling the problem of bullying in school and ways to promote harmonious campus.

4 Topic: What is bullying?
-Bullying is when someone is being hurt either by words or actions on purpose -The bullies usually take action on bullying to get revenge or for fun which is not recommended

5 6 types of bullying found in schools

6 PHYSICAL BULLYING Physical bullying concludes of kicking, hitting, punching, slapping, shoving and any forms of physical attacks

7 Verbal Bullying Verbal bullying is when a person forcefully criticizes, insults, or denounces someone else.[1] Characterized by underlying anger and hostility, it is a destructive form of communication intended to harm the self- concept of the other person and produce negative emotions.[2] Verbal abuse is a maladaptive mechanism that anyone can display occasionally, such as during times of high stress or physical discomfort. For some people, it is a pattern of behaviors used intentionally to control or manipulate others or to get revenge

8 Cyber bullying the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature

9 Relational Aggression
Relational aggression or alternative aggression is a type of aggression in which harm is caused by damaging someone's relationships or social status. Although it can be used in many contexts and among different age groups, relational aggression among adolescents in particular, has received a lot of attention.

10 Prejudicial bullying For instance, victims of prejudicial bullying may experience cyberbullying, verbal bullying, relational aggression, physical bullying and sometimes even sexual bullying. Prejudicial bullying arises from a misguided or learned belief that certain groups of people deserve to be treated differently or with less respect

11 Sexual bullying Sexual bullying is a type of bullying and harassment that occurs in connection with a person's sex, body, sexual orientation or with sexual activity. It can be physical, verbal, or emotional

24 Conclusion: Is bullying a serious problem in Hong Kong School?
Yes it is a serious problem since nearly half of the population of students are being bullied in the past years

25 What should stakeholders do?
( EDB, Schools, Parents and Student )

26 Education Bureau - Provided school with a package about “Co-creating a harmonious school: stop bullying - Giving the schools guidelines and policy

27 School - Teachers - Teach students not to bully
- Have strategies for handling bullying - Prevention measures

28 Parents - Must understand the effects of bullying on children
- Identify if their child is being bullied or being a bully - Teach children about the serious consequences of bullying

29 Student As a student or a bystander these are the important thing to do when you are being bullied or some people passing by - Firstly when you encounter a bully you should go tell to the teacher about it and never be a bystander even though it's not your problem -Secondly if you are being bullied shout for help to get attention from the teachers or people passing by
