2 Your two Teacher’s Objectives for this Project 
Knowledge (Students will….): Understands the importance of food safety, proper sanitation concepts and personal hygiene when working with and around food Knows the vocabulary of basic food preparation Understands the importance of planning, time management and efficiency with regards to food production Understands basic measurements for production of baked/cooked goods Recognizes the responsibilities of an individual working as part of a team Skills: Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment while preparing foods Demonstrates excellent work habits and professional attitudes towards peers Utilizes the appropriate ingredients/equipment required for each and recipe Adapts or converts recipes/formulas to meet the needs of the day’s production

3 What can you choose to cook??
Each group is going to choose one of the following below. There are 5 groups, which means that we would like to at least have an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. A soup and salad is an option as well. Appetizers Entrée Desserts Soups Salads

4 Time Management is extremely important
You have 75 minutes to prepare, cook, and clean the kitchen. You must use your time wisely. Class will start at 9:55 and will end at 11:15. Your group must make sure that you pick out a recipe where you will be able to have enough time to complete everything.

5 What will I be graded on? You will receive three separate grades for this project: Your level of engagement, participation, and behavior. Your groups ability to follow a recipe and produce an edible final product. Your ability to evaluate your individual and group performance through written expression.

9 Finding A Recipe Be sure that your recipe will give you enough time to prepare, cook, clean, and eat!!!!! Your recipe must be able to feed our entire class. You must do the Math Don’t forget to include your hungry teachers Make sure you make a grocery list with the necessary material for Mrs. Kish and Ms. Ryan to go to the store and buy. (Hint: If we cannot read your handwriting, we cannot buy the necessary material).

10 Finding a Recipe You must re-write all the instructions in order of how you are going to prepare your meal. Do not skip a step because your item will not come out the way it should!!!! Turn in your grocery list and your steps to Mrs. Kish and Ms. Ryan Everyone MUST PARTICIPATE IN THE ASSIGNMENT!!!

11 Project Safety Rules If we can complete this project successfully, there will be more projects to come. However, if there is a safety issue, group members not working together, or anything Mrs. Kish and Ms. Ryan see threatening to the class, you will be escorted out immediately and taken to another room. In this room, you will complete an alternate assignment. ALL SCHOOL RULES APPLY!!!
