6 CBA Comparison On-Level: Pre-AP:
A concession stand earned a profit of $150 in July. This represented 25% of the profits made in June. How much profit did the concession stand make in June? Pre-AP: Chad works for Best Buy and is paid an hourly wage plus a 3% commission on his sales. Last week he worked 35 hours and sold $4500 worth of merchandise. His total earnings for the week were $ How much does Chad earn per hour? **Requires students to see that $150 is ¼ of June’s profit, so the answer is found by multiplying 150 by 4. **Requires students to solve a multi-step equation by first calculating the commission, subtracting it from total earnings and then dividing by the number of hours worked.

7 PAP Algebra I HS Credit and counts toward HS GPA
Accelerated course and considered above grade level 8th grade PAP Algebra I students should plan on taking a total of 5 years of math prior to HS graduation (5th year can either be AP Calculus or AP Statistics)

8 Elective Choices…Choose Carefully!
All courses are year-long commitments Rank elective choices “1-5” for 8th grade; “1-4” for 7th grade 1 for first choice, 2 for second choice, etc.

9 Physical Education Course Options (Required for 7th grade)
Choose one of the following: Boys Athletics (Football and/or Basketball) Girls Athletics (Volleyball and/or Basketball) Tennis You must make the competition ladder by the end of the first semester in order to remain for the spring semester. Please refer to the Cobb Athletics portion of the website for more details about tennis levels. PE Partners PE –8th grade only (application). Will open to 7th grade if not filled by 8th grade students. *If you are only planning to participate in Soccer, Cross Country, Track, or cheerleading you DO NOT need to sign up for athletics *Please note: There is a $100 non-refundable, one time fee to participate in Athletics or Tennis

10 Elective Courses Spanish
7th grade year will be Introduction to Spanish and will prepare you for the high school course. We highly recommend you take this class if you want to take Spanish in 8th grade. Native speakers should not take this class. 8th graders can take Intro class if they are not ready for Spanish I. 8th grade will be Spanish I and will count toward your High School GPA (Grade point average)

13 8th Grade only – NO Prerequisite work required:
Office/Library/Band/Orchestra Aide (application required—very limited number of students accepted) Health/Teen Leadership (combination class) High school credit given for Health ONLY and will count towards HS GPA Each class is one semester in length Health is required for High School graduation If you are considering the Health/Medical pathway at the CTE center for high school, you should NOT take Health in middle school as the Health Science class will count for your HS Health credit. (see CTE center pathways in the high school course guide) You can also take Health in summer school before 9th grade and any other summer before graduation. The class is also offered as an on-line course.

Be sure to fill out every section and choices Turn in applications to the appropriate teachers by March 2nd (if applicable) Schedule pick-up will be ???? Open Campus will be ???? (We have to wait for the state of Texas to tell us when we can start school to assign these dates) For Incoming 7th: Course Card (DUE Feb. 16th with parent signature to MRS. BRINLEE) See from Nurse Hodgkiss (if applicable) For Incoming 8th: Course Card (DUE Feb. 16th with parent signature to your TEXAS HISTORY TEACHER) Be sure to sign FRONT and BACK of course card.
