Aim: How can we compare and contrast the film version to the original text of Fences?
Objective: Students will analyze the film of Fences and identify comparisons and contrasts to the original text, which will
enable them to be successful in composing their thematic essay.
Do Now: Choose one of the following questions.
1.) What differences between the text and the movie do you expect to see, and why would these events be portrayed differently? OR
2.) How do you think a movie director, who is working on an adaptation of a text. decides what he is going to include or exclude in his film?
