No wonder his preaching led to “believers” (who were not Christians in the correct sense of that term…a disciple of the risen Christ-Acts 11:26) into whom “Holy Spirit simply cannot come”.
Apostle Paul who never asked this question “Did you receive the Holy Spirit at baptism” to Galatian believers or Lydia at Phillipi or to countless ones’ he had preached and led to Christ (Acts 13-18) was forced to pose this question to 12 on seeing the “vitality” (which the Holy Spirit brings into a believer’s life) missing conspicuously in these men.
Holy Spirit coming with signs into these men was proof to them as to what belief in full Gospel would do (makes it clear to them…that the “Gospel” they had hitherto placed their faith in was NOT COMPLETE).
