4. Why do you need a rationale?
To help develop an understanding of what needs to be done and how it will be done.
To help identify any issues with areas of research- i.e lack of information, access to information issues.
To be able to set SMART aims and objectives.
To consider what resources are required and the availability of these resources.

5. “I`m going to research drug use in Columbia”
Possible issues?
Class discussion around the difficulty of gaining accurate information on Columbia and the reasons behind this.
Class discussion about the internet restrictions in educational institutions and impacts of this.

6. What would good look like?
Class discussion to write a check list of what would be included in a good rationale, then compare this to the distinction example given on link below:
