Click on the link below to watch a video clip. Respond in writing by providing your thoughts on the following question: How do you personally show someone (family, friends, significant other etc.) how you care about them? © Presto Plans

3 Chapter 2 Quizzer Tear a piece of paper in half and give one half to a partner. At the top of your half sheet, you need: Your name The date Class/Block Assignment Title (For today, it’s “Chapter 2 Quizzer”)

4 Chapter 2 Quizzer After every night of independent reading, you will have one quiz question to answer to prove that you read. The question is worth 5 points if you get it right. If you’re wrong, you won’t get any points. There’s no partial credit, so make sure you read carefully! If you didn’t read, write down “I didn’t read,” I will give you 1 point for your honesty. It’s better than a zero, and it speeds up my grading process. Good luck! 

5 Chapter 2 Quizzer: Block 1/2
On rainy days, Calpurnia needs to keep Scout occupied, so she has her sit at the kitchen table and do what?

6 Chapter 2 Quizzer: Block 5/6
How much money does Miss Caroline, the teacher, offer to loan Walter Cunningham so he can buy lunch?

7 Chapter 2 Quizzer Trade with a partner, and use your colored pencil to give them a grade. Remember, 5 points for the correct answer, 0 points for the wrong answer, and 1 point for writing down that they didn’t read. In one minute, I’ll come around to collect them.

8 TKAM: Chapter 1-2 Study Questions
Now, let’s go over the homework! Trade with a partner and, using your colored pencil, write your name at the top of their page. We’re going to go over Chapter 1-2 study questions, and you’ll need to grade your partner’s paper.

9 Example of a well-supported response
Q: Do you think Hamlet truly loves Ophelia? A: I don’t think that Hamlet really loves Ophelia. Even though he says he does, throughout the play he is constantly cruel to her. For example, in Act 3, he tells her, “Get thee to a nunnery!” By saying this, he is telling her that she is so sinful she needs to go to a convent and become a nun. Clearly answer the question Explain why/how you know Include textual evidence that supports your answer

10 TKAM: Chapter 1-2 Study Questions
Let’s go over how to grade…. Each question is worth three points, one point for each part: Correctly answering the question Explaining how they know/elaborating on the correct answer Using textual evidence that supports the correct answer

11 TKAM: Chapter 1-2 Study Questions
Next to each question, give them a score: 0/3 if they either have the wrong answer or no answer at all. 1/3 if they have the right answer, but don’t explain and don’t use evidence. 2/3 if they have the right answer, but either don’t (fully) explain or don’t use (adequate) evidence. 3/3 if they have the right answer, explain themselves, and use relevant evidence that proves their answer.

12 TKAM: Chapter 2 vocab activity, Chapter 3
For the rest of class, you have two jobs: Choose a word you didn’t recognize from chapters 1, 2, or 3 and complete the vocab activity chart for your chosen word. Make sure you follow the steps in order! Read chapter 3. Don’t worry about the study questions yet – just read 
