Week Of: March 23-27, 2015 Mrs. Scott’s Kindergarten Class UPCOMING EVENTS March 27 – Report Cards Go Home March 30-April 3 – Spring Break April 9 – PIE meeting at NC 7:00 p.m. April 9/10 – K Screening for incoming kindergarteners April 10 – Pretzel Money Due Theme for the Week: Easter Vowel friends: “lonely e” short e like in “jet” Sci/Social Studies: Holidays Math: Measuring Popcorn words: “eight” and “brown” Week in Review This week we learned all about farms and what we get from them! We worked on a paper about where certain foods come from on a farm. We also read and sequenced the story “Little Red Hen”. We talked about the farm habitat and what kinds of things we would see on a farm! We also reviewed our field trip to Aullwood and the farm we visited there. We have worked hard on addition and subtraction trying to increase our speed and decrease our dependency on fingers. We loved our “Dirt Made My Lunch” song and writing about where our favorite foods come from. Contact Information: Phone:

*Play the license plate search game on your trip if you drive a long distance. *Spot words repeated on signs and billboards such as exit, next, to, and miles. *Count the number of red cars, or blue trucks etc. in a given period of time. *Write and send a postcard to the class from your destination. *Keep a journal of your spring break. *Visit the library and find books about spring! *Practice counting during different activities such as throwing a ball and catching it 11 times, kick a ball 12 times, etc. Try counting by 5s and 10s Classroom Needs -Hershey Kisses -Prizes for Prize box - Things To Practice! -Ask your child to sing the phonic dance. -Try to count 100 things in your bedroom. -Pick a meal to discuss healthy and unhealthy foods. -Review rainbow words and the first 100 Fry words. -Try to eat something from each food group and talk about it came from the farm! -Add small numbers together -Subtract small numbers -Keep talking about money when you are out and about!!! -Keep reading!
