NO BLIZZARD BAG WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE ON THIS DAY, BECAUSE THIS IS A SCHEDULED DAY OFF. BLIZZARD BAGS: On the next day that school is scheduled and is cancelled for that day, second graders will need to work on their blizzard bags and return the yellow paper circled with the skills the child completed (one from each column), parents need to sign the paper, and return the paper to the classroom teacher. To view and/or print the e-learning day (Blizzard Bag) activities to the following steps: 1. Go to the school web page (gm.k12.mn.us) 2. Click on GM Staff 3. Click on PreK-Grade 4 4. Click on Connie Goergen-second grade or Click on Darcy Hanken – second grade 5. Scroll down and click on E-Learning Day Assignments VALENTINE’S BOX: The second graders are asked to decorate their own Valentine’s box at home and bring it to school by Monday, February 11. A shoe box, ice cream pail, or cereal box works well. One may cover the container with wrapping paper, white paper, or aluminum foil. They may also want to cut out hearts, use stickers, or doilies to decorate it. The child’s name should be visible. The hole for their ‘mail’ must be big enough for candy to fit through. This is a good project to do on a weekend or a snow day. VALENTINIE’S PARTY: The party is Thursday, Feb. 14 from Any parent that would like to plan a game or two, donate food, or prize bags please let your classroom teacher know. SWIMMING LESSONS: Second graders will ride the bus to Austin for lessons at the YMCA on Tuesday for 8 weeks. They will eat lunch at 11:30 and the bus leaves at 12:05 for swimming lessons. The schedule is on the other side of this paper. On Tuesdays, all second graders should bring their swim suit, towel, comb, and a snack. Please have a cloth bag or string bag -no plastic store bags. After swimming, they may eat a snack on the bus on the way home. Snacks should not be messy. Granola bars work well. Students will return to school about 2:45. STUDENT TEACHER: Haley Riedemann will be student teaching in Mrs. Hanken’s room for the next 10 weeks. She will full time teach the month of February. Her school is if you need to contact her. Welcome Haley!!
