2 Getting Started Start building a resume while in college
Befriend College Career Counselors, faculty and staff Work at an internship or volunteer while in college If paid work is sought, consider part or full-time work (only if you can handle your courses and a job)

3 Already Graduated If you are out of school, fret not. There’s still a lot you can do to improve your chances of landing a great job. The most important part is getting started – search. Check with people you know – network!

More than motivation and a degree to find employment Can seem like a job in itself Get your resume ready. Applications to fill out Searches for positions References to collect and notify Make sure that you ask your reference before submitting your application!

Identify relevant skills and qualifications Emphasize academic and employment history Resume Length - one page or two?

6 Job Target Research your targeted area Identify target organizations
Make a targeting plan Examine what your plan reveals Think through what you have found

7 Identify Skills &Qualifications
Definition of a skill How to assess your skills What are your qualifications and training?

8 Attend a Career Fair Investigate companies that will attend the fair
Create a plan on where prospective employers are located at the fair Expand your focus and include other types of employers Market yourself!
