Native Americans join French, American colonists fight with British – however, Iroquois tribe later join British
British win the war and King George issues Proclamation of no settlements west of Appalachians
Discuss: Why would an American colonist be upset by the Proclamation?

4. Stamp Act, 1765
To raise money for F & I War debt, British Parliament requires all printed documents to have revenue stamp (tax)

3. (Discuss): Why were people upset over the stamp act? Do you agree or disagree with the protests over the law?

Samuel Adams forms “Sons of Liberty” to protest and boycott British goods
Due to protests, British send more troops to Boston – violent confrontation erupts

8. First Continental Congress, 1774
In response to the Boston Tea Party, King George closes Boston Harbor and Parliament passes Intolerable Acts
Colonists send reps to Philadelphia to discuss British actions

Minutemen & British begin fighting at Lexington & Concord
