10 GET COLLEGE-READY Meet A-G Requirements
Get good grades and develop strong study habits. Challenge yourself by selecting rigorous classes. Find a balance. Colleges want happy, healthy, well-rounded students, not A-making machines. Get Involved and Demonstrate Leadership Join a club or sport, get a job, etc. Start a club or become a club officer, be a team captain, a manager at your job, editor of the yearbook, etc. Juniors- Build a College List Research colleges and visit campuses if you can! Come to the College Night for more information PSAT, SAT, ACT Sophomores take the PSAT 10 at MHHS in the spring. Taking the PSAT 10 sophomore year is good practice for taking the PSAT/NMSQT junior year. Juniors may take the PSAT/NMSQT in the fall at MHHS. This is good practice and may provide scholarship opportunities. Juniors are advised to take the SAT or ACT in the spring. Colleges accept your highest score on the SAT and ACT, so you can study over the summer and retake in the fall of senior year.

Honors/AP Ready NOT Ready Yet You enjoy the subject Your grade is an A or a strong B in similar subjects You have the time and motivation to commit to doing the work You have a growth mindset You don’t like the subject Your grades in similar subjects are not strong You have extracurricular time commitments that make it difficult to devote significant time & effort to the course You are struggling in other courses and need to focus on improving your overall GPA

17 If your grades are all C’s or better, you get an extended lunch!
SUCCESS PERIOD SUCCESS period is an intervention period built directly into our school day! This means that you can get the extra support you need without giving up your lunch or after school time. You must attend SUCCESS until the next grading period, even if you raise your grade before that time. If you have three or more Fs, your schedule will be changed to add an Academic Study Skills class. This means you may lose a flex period or an elective class. If your grades are all C’s or better, you get an extended lunch! nom nom nom
