1 Student Test Experience
Acuity Training II Student Test Experience This training is designed to be used with teachers and staff prior to the first administration of the year of the Acuity assessments so that they can experience from a student point of view what it will be like to login and take an Acuity assessment. Teachers can also use all or parts of this ppt. to share with students prior to them taking the test so they will know what to expect in terms of format and navigating the system.

2 Student Test Experience
Computers in lab should have a shortcut (placed by school tech. person) that students simply click on and it takes them to the URL acuity.aps.k12.co.us Teachers should have scratch paper, pencils, also CR items that have been printed out prepared to give to students to use when students are testing. DO NOT give scratch paper when TCAP comes around though! Tip: have tech people at your building place a shortcut to the acuity.aps.k12.co.us website on each computer in the lab that students will use to take the test on. Then students only need to click on this icon to get the login screen rather than each of them typing in the url. Teachers can login to in order to have this student test experience. This is NOT the url that students will use to take the test, this is for training purposes (and students/teachers can actually login from home and view reports, etc as long as they use their real usernames/passwords and not the fake ones provided below for training) Students will NOT be able to take/access any tests using the url. They should each login with fake student username/passwords as provided by Kimberly Terry.

3 Student login Students enter their User Name (student district ID)
Students enter their Password (student first name) Click Login

4 Proctoring Teacher can write the item #’s for the CRs on the board so students know to complete those on separate paper-MATH only- when they come to them Teachers should have scratch paper, pencils, and/or CR items that have been printed out-MATH only- prepared to give to students to use when students are testing.

5 Student Test Experience
For taking a test students will click on the assessments icon. Teachers can also check this page to see the student name in the upper right is the student who is taking the test. The Reload is a refresh type button, the Help has Acuity specific help, and then of course the logout button which they will use only after taking the entire test and clicking “Finish”, and “Stop”. The study icon can be used later on by students if their teacher assigns them any of the instructional resources in the system or creates their own. The Reports icon will allow the students access to two different reports (covered in the Acuity Training III-Reports).

9 Student Test Experience
Things students encounter during testing Scrolling for Passages or long answer choice options Answer Choices on Right of Screen Next, Back, Erase, and Exit buttons at top Mark for Review Jump to Question at bottom

10 Student Text Experience
How many questions are on this test? It shows this at the top it says Question 10 of 31. As teachers are roving they will notice that the numbers along the bottom, blue highlight means the student is on that item right now. Notice the back/next buttons on both top and bottom right hand side. Top right also has 3 icons. The notepad is the test directions again, the X is erase an answer, the picture of the disc is to Save and Exit (don’t usually use that though)

12 Student Test Experience
Last Screen allows student to Review Answer Choices (Item #s are Hyperlinks) SAVE/EXIT –test is NOT complete, students must come back later to finish-won’t use this often FINISH – Student complete, submits test for scoring Reports will not generate unless all students click FINISH and CR Items are manually scored If students finish early have them bring a book or Teacher’s choice

13 Student Test Experience
Teacher should have all students stop at this screen and raise hand. Only click a button after the teacher gives the okay. Save and exit, means students can go back and complete later. Finish means it is done completely, students will not be allowed to login and alter/add any answers after clicking Finish. Almost always, you want students to click FINISH. **May want to explain to students (by showing them this slide) that the letter shown is only the answer they chose (students have on occasion thought that the letter showing was a grade, i.e. if they see a D they think that they got a D grade on that question and it can be confusing for lower grade students especially).

14 Last Screen for students
Can have students write down their total score before clicking on Back to home page. After they click on the “back to home page” it will take them back the first student test page with the 3 icons. From there they can simply choose “logout”. After testing, students can read, work on anything that is school appropriate on the computer (i.e. internet math games, writing final drafts, etc)

15 Student Test Experience
After clicking the back to home page, students will be brought back to this home screen. They should then click the Logout button in the upper right. After testing, students can read, work on anything that is school appropriate on the computer (i.e. internet math games, writing final drafts, etc) acuity.aps.k12.co.us
