2 What is MAP?  MAP - Measures of Academic Progress  Achievement tests  Delivered by computer Why take MAP tests?  To find out exactly where you are performing  To help your teacher know what you should be working on to improve

3 How does MAP work?  Questions appear on your computer screen  Use the mouse or keyboard to answer  If you have any problems with the test, just raise your hand and someone will gladly assist you.

4 To take the test:  Use your best test-taking strategies  Answer every question – you cannot skip  You cannot go back to a previous question  You may not know every question, and that is okay. Just do your best.

5 The first screen you see will look like this. When you enter the lab, make sure your name is shown on the screen. Wait for directions and then click on the “Start Test” button.

10 When you finish the test:  Raise your hand to let the proctor or teacher know you are done.  Do not click any buttons on the screen or press any keys on the keyboard; wait for the proctor or teacher to do this.  Your proctor or teacher may guide you in printing your screen.  Sit back from your computer and read a book.

11 Other reminders…  Get a drink or a bathroom break before the test begins.  You need to bring a book with you to read when the test is completed.  You cannot talk to anyone or use any books to look things up.  You need to do your personal best on this test. This information will help us set goals for you and monitor your progress.

12 Testing Reminders Before the test: Get a good night’s sleep Eat a healthy breakfast Bring a book with you—just in case you finish the test early. (No mp3 players or games) During the test: Follow directions Use good test-taking strategies Do your best After the test: Raise your hand when you finish Work quietly until time to go
