Break a list of contractions down into their parts. Separate the prefix from the base word and explain how it changes the definition of the base word. Which way is best, using a contraction or just writing the words normally? Why should you prove what you know? How can you edit your personal story for clarity. Assessment Strategy Identify contractions in sentences. Prefix anchor chart. Begin a rough draft beginning for a story . Put together and break apart contractions. Continue with a body of a writing story. Edit a sentence or paragraph for contractions. Phonics review Homework page in class. Continue with an ending of a writing story. Students will do RTI as needed to reinforce skills. Narrative Final copy to turn in.
