1 Instructions On How to Use CI SERVES
The Center for Community Engagement

2 STOP! You must contact your community partner before registering your service-learning site placement with CSUCI SERVES. A sample phone script can be found here on the CSUCI SERVES webpage:

3 1. Start at the CSU Channel Islands homepage and type CSUCI SERVES into the search browser.
Begin by navigating to the CSU Channel Islands homepage. Type CI SERVES into the search browser.

4 2. Click CSUCI SERVES. The search results will provide you with a KEYMATCH. Select CI SERVES.

5 3. Click STUDENT/FACULTY LOG IN.
You have now landed on the CI SERVES homepage. Here you can see all of the university’s approved community partner sites on a geographical map. By clicking on the green pins, you can find information about each of these organizations. When you are ready to create your site placement, click STUDENT/FACULTY LOG IN.

6 4. Choose CSU Channel Islands and click LOG IN.
If you are directed to choose your campus, select CSU Channel Islands and click LOG IN.

7 5. Type in your Dolphin name and password. Click SIGN IN.
Log-in to the myCI platform by entering your Dolphin name and password, then click SIGN IN.

8 6. Find your service-learning course and click PLACE.
You have now landed on your own personal CI SERVES page. All of your service-learning courses for the current semester should be listed here. To create a site placement, carefully choose the correct service-learning course and click PLACE. If you need any assistance logging in, you can

9 7. Click on SEARCH BY SITE. Click on SEARCH BY SITE.

10 8. Click on the SITE WHERE YOU ARE SERVING.
Choose the Site you will be serving at and click on the organization’s name.

11 9. Click SELECT THIS SITE. Here you’ll find information about your community partner. To choose this organization, click SELECT this SITE.

12 10. Find your site supervisor and click SELECT.
Choose your site supervisor and then click SELECT. If you do not see your site supervisor, select ADD Site staff. If you are not sure who your site supervisor is, select SKIP THIS STEP. NOTE: If you do not see you site supervisor, select ADD SITE STAFF to include your supervisor or if you’re not sure, select NOT SURE OR N/A.

13 11. Review the site’s Health & Safety Information and click the green button to indicate your understanding. Review the site’s health and safety information and if you agree to the risks associated, select I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE RISK ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SITE. If you do not agree with the listed information, and you would like to change organizations, choose the Start over button at the top of your screen. If you do not agree with the listed information, and you would like to change organizations, choose the Start over button at the top of your screen.

14 12. Enter the estimated number of hours you will be serving or working on your service-learning project. Click NEXT. Enter the estimated number of hours you will be serving or working on your service-learning project. Then Click NEXT.

15 13. Complete Placement Forms
13. Complete Placement Forms. Find CI STUDENT LEARNING PLAN and click COMPLETE FORM. Now you’ll want to complete your placement forms: The Release of Liability and the CI Student Learning Plan. In order to complete the site placement process, you must complete both of these forms, and then click FINISH PLACEMENT.

16 14. Complete the CI STUDENT LEARNING PLAN.
Then complete the CI STUDENT LEARNING PLAN. Click complete form online.

17 15. Complete the PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES and click SUBMIT.
Then complete the CI STUDENT LEARNING PLAN. Click complete form online.

18 16. Complete Placement Forms
16. Complete Placement Forms. Find RELEASE OF LIABILITY and click COMPLETE FORM. Now you’ll want to complete your placement forms: The Release of Liability and the CI Student Learning Plan. In order to complete the site placement process, you must complete both of these forms, and then click FINISH PLACEMENT.

19 17. Read, sign and verify your age on the RELEASE OF LIABILITY
17. Read, sign and verify your age on the RELEASE OF LIABILITY. Click SUBMIT. Students must read, sign and verify their age on the Release of Liability form. Click submit. If you are under the age of 18, please print the Release of Liability and have your parent or legal guardian sign this document. You can turn in the signed copy to your faculty member.

20 18. Click FINISH PLACEMENT to complete the site placement process.
Once the sign up forms have been completed, click the green finish placement button.

21 19. CONGRATULATIONS - YOU’VE COMPLETED YOUR SITE PLACEMENT
19. CONGRATULATIONS - YOU’VE COMPLETED YOUR SITE PLACEMENT! You and your site supervisor will receive a confirmation with the learning plan attached. Your CI SERVES Site placement is complete! You will receive a confirmation for your site placement. Your community partner will be able to view your forms and confirm that your site placement is completed.

22 20. To continue and create a time-log entry, SELECT CREATE TIMELOG.

23 21. You can also create a time log entry by navigating from your personal landing page by selecting UPDATE YOUR TIMELOG.

24 22. Select ADD TIME ENTRY.

25 23. Enter the TIME IN and TIME OUT, then include what you did during these hours. Include your self-reflections as well.

26 24. Then click SAVE AND SUBMIT FOR APPROVAL.

27 25. Continue entering your hours throughout the semester by ADDING a TIME ENTRY.
