2. Training Overview
International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) is offering “Planning for Effective Public Participation” training from July 30 – August 1 (3 day) in Eagan
Learn and review the essential elements of:
Evaluating the scope of a decision
Identifying the decision steps including timing and needed resources
Establishing roles and responsibilities of primary parties
Developing a comprehensive, decision-impact analysis
Selecting the appropriate level of public participation
Developing a detailed public participation plan
Planning for communications initiatives that support the process
Identifying appropriate evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of the initiative

3. MnDOT Opportunity
IAP2 training is rarely offered in the Twin Cities Metro area
MnDOT has an opportunity to pilot the course
Possibly complement and follow the Systematic Development of Informed Consent (SDIC) classes scheduled statewide over the last 2 years
Path to IAP2 Certification opportunities
In addition, opportunity to attend/observe the training and customize and abridge (1 day training?) to meet MnDOT needs

4. MnDOT Central Office will cover the cost of 4 to 6 registrations
We are recruiting project managers and public engagement practitioners who may:
Benefit from this class
Provide input on developing an abbreviated version for a MnDOT-only offering
