Advanced Rhetoric Commercials
Your group will go, sharing your most effective advanced rhetoric from the commercial. Then you’ll name the effect of the advanced rhetoric.
22
Commercial Advanced Rhetoric
1 term per person. Use it in your commercial. Explain it afterward. Write the paragraph. Help us learn!
23
Commercial example, one person’s part
Buy the Flight shoes, says legendary jumper Michael Jordan, who knows about the best shoes. Buy the Flight shoes, confirms the ESPN study of the best shoes.
24
Paragraph Details 5-12 sentences
Thesis example: In the commercial “Cool Title,” extensive anaphora demonstrates that PRODUCT NAME is ______________. (something like “clearly more healthful than its competition.”)
25
So-so commercial paragraph example
The anaphora in the “Flight Shoes” links the commercial’s ideas, adding urgency to demand action. While the first sentence uses ethos (specifically, a person) after the anaphora, the second uses a company to establish credibility as well as more logos. Disconnected, their power is limited. But the anaphora connects them; it makes Jordan and ESPN’s message more similar and more powerful. Because of its power to link ideas, the commercial’s anaphora improves its effectiveness.
