3 PLANS and INTENTIONS MIGHT, COULD, MAY + INFINITIVE When a plan or intention is not definite. We might go to the beach on Sunday. She may be free on Friday.

4 PLANS and INTENTIONS BE + PLANNING TO/HOPING TO + INFINITIVE I am planning to go abroad next year. She’s hoping to finish her homework soon. BE+ THINKING OF + ING Maria is thinking of taking English lessons.

5 PLANS PRESENT CONTINUOUS Definite arrangements and plans. What are you doing tomorrow? I’m having lunch with my friends.

6 DECISIONS WILL In spoken English. To talk about decisions made at the moment of speaking. Often used with «I think». This bags are too heavy. No worries, I’ll help you.

7 PREDICTIONS WILL, MIGHT, COULD, WON’T + INFINITIVE To make predictions based on opinion. Use with verbs such as «think, hope, expect, know, guess, be sure» or adverbs such as «maybe, perhaps». I expect Sara will agree with me. I’m sure she will be happy with that.

8 PREDICTIONS WILL + DEFINITELY, CERTAINLY, POSSIBLY, PROBABLY To say how certain you are. Sue and John will probably get married soon. She definitely won’t accept that.

9 PREDICTIONS BE LIKELY TO + INFINITIVE Strong possibility. She’s likely to be late. She’s not punctual. BE DUE TO + INFINITIVE Something that is expected or scheduled to happen. The train is due to arrive soon.

10 PREDICTIONS BE GOING TO + INFINITIVE To make a prediction based on a present evidence. Look at the sky! It’s going to rain. She’s going to have baby!

11 FUTURE FACTS PRESENT SIMPLE Schedules, timetables and itineraries. The course starts in September. The train leaves at 10. WILL + INFINITIVE For future facts. I’ll be 30 next year.
