1 Non-Linguistic Representation of Learning

2 Examples include -  graphic organizers, sketches, pictographs, concept maps, dramatizations, flowcharts, making physical models You can chose an Absolute Monarch to do a concept map, timeline or cause and effect. The Monarchs are Philip II, Louis XIV, Maria Theresa, Frederick the Great, Peter the Great or Ivan the terrible Other topics we have covered: Bubonic Plague – pg 194 The Renaissance – pg 308 The Reformation – pg 340 Exploration - pg 368 The Atlantic Slave Trade – pg 421 Nonlinguistic strategies require students to generate a representation of new information that does not rely on language. 

3 Assignment Chose one Absolute Monarch then chose one form of non-linguistic representation to research and complete. (If you would like to chose a different topic see me separately) Examples: 1. descriptive pattern organizer 2. timeline 3. Cause and effect 4. Concept pattern 5. Generalization Pattern 6. Episode Pattern Each group must also turn in a V.I.S chart for one vocabulary term for this chapter. (last slide of PP)

2. What is the setting where the event occurs? 3. When did these event occur? 4. Who are the major figures or characters that play a part in this? 5. List, in the order they occur, the specific incidents or events. 6. What caused this event? 7. What effect has this event had on the people involved? 8. What effect has this event had on society in general?
