Steps we will Cover: Choose the color scheme that pleases your eye Choose how many columns you like to see Select modules from Yahoo to Appear on your Home Page Customize and move those modules Select RSS Feeds from your favorite websites

Most popular Browser is Yahoo – So I will use it for demonstration AOL, MSN and Google also support customization – just have slightly different processes.

4 If You Want to Get Started with Yahoo
Log onto my.yahoo.com To Create and Save your Home Page you must sign in. If you don’t have a Yahoo Account, Click on “I’m new here” and create an account – It’s Free

5 For New Users -- Navigate to Yahoo.com
Sign up for a free account

6 You Have to Sign in to View Your Customized Page
Sign in with your Username and Password

7 My.Yahoo.com is Now Your Customized Home Page

8 First, Select Color Scheme and Font Size
Click on “Change Appearance” and experiment with different colors, font size, etc.

9 Experiment with Layouts to See Which Looks Best on Your Monitor
Select a 2, 3 or 4 column layout.

10 Open “Add Content” to look at content modules offered
Select Add Content to see what modules are offered Many categories are offered so just explore

11 Add Content Modules – Begin with Yahoo Suggestions
Browse and add any of the Suggested Modules

12 Drag the Modules to Place Them Where You Like
Hold down the left mouse button on the grey bar above a module and drag it to the new location

13 Add Modules via RSS Feeds
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication It allows websites to offer feeds to your home page The universal symbol for RSS is This allows Blogs, News Headlines, Videos to publish frequently in a standardized format. Do a search on RSS Feeds and you will see hundred’s of offerings.

14 Yahoo has a Directory to RSS Feeds

15 Check for the RSS Symbol in your Favorite Websites
Slickdeals.net advertises special pricing on all kinds of items. Note the RSS symbol. Click on it to add a feed to your homepage.

16 Clicking on the RSS Symbol and select your Home Page Provider

17 My Home Page is Filled with Personalized Content

18 Just Do It! Search the Web for Interesting Websites and use RSS to add to your HomePage If you don’t like it, just delete it Share with the Group some of your favorites
