3 3 Concept 7.1 About Email All ISPs (Internet Service Providers) give you an email address when you sign up –Can be free or for a fee ($$$) These are only a few ISPs; there are many more to choose from

4 4 Concept 7.1 About Email An email address has three parts, no capitals and no spaces 1 2 3 USER NAME “AT” SYMBOL EMAIL SERVICE PROVIDER student @ msn.com student@cp.chemeketa.edu Email address

5 5 Concept 7.1 About Email Many companies on the Internet offer free email, called Webmail –The Yahoo! Internet company offers Webmail

6 6 Concept 7.1 About Email When you get a Webmail account, you must login with a user name and a password. Your email goes to your user name Your password protects your email No one can read your email without your user name and your password

7 7 Concept 7.1 About Email When you login, you enter your user name and your password Click the Login button after you have typed in your user name and password

8 8 Concept 7.2 Writing and Sending a Message Sending an email is like writing a letter Click here and go to your address book The Inbox holds your email The Sent box holds email that you have sent This shows how much space you have left in your email box Your email address Click here to start writing your new message

10 10 Concept 7.3 The Address Book The address book is a list of names and email addresses that you save to use again later You can add new addresses to the address book

11 11 Concept 7.4 Reading Your Email When you open your email, you will see this information: The date and time the email was sent Your email address The message Buttons for you to use to do different things with the message

12 12 Concept 7.5 Replying to a Message When you answer a message, you reply to it by clicking the Reply button You type your answer above the message that was sent to you

13 13 Concept 7.5 Replying to a Message After you type your reply, click Send Reply
