2 Take out H.W. and math notebook. Answer in your notebook:
DO NOW : Take out H.W. and math notebook. Answer in your notebook: The diagram below shows some model airplanes and some model ships. What is the ratio of the number of model airplanes to the number of model ships? What are some things that you notice? What are some things that you wonder?

3 Today’s Objective(s):
I will be able to compare different ratios using two or more ratio tables So I can solve real world problems. I will show my understanding when I can interpret the tables and solve exercise 2 with at least 80% accuracy. 6.RP.A.3a

4 Language Objective By the end of the lesson I will be able to use all four language domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing to listen and orally discuss how to compare different ratios using two or more ratio tables in order to solve real world problems. I will show my understanding when I can interpret the tables and write the solution to exercise 2 with at least 80% accuracy RP.A.3a

5 2 by scaling up and 2 by scaling down
Complete pg. 42 Example 1 on your whiteboards. Create four equivalent ratios using the ratio of 30 to 80. 2 by scaling up and 2 by scaling down 210 to 560 X 60 to 160 30 to 80 15 to 40 ÷ 3 to 8

6 “ This means there are 8 pizzas being sold every hour.”
You try….. Write a ratio to describe the relationship shown in the table. The ratio used to create the table is 1:8. ÷ 2 = ÷ 2 = “ This means there are 8 pizzas being sold every hour.”

7 Pg. 46 2. A 120 lb. person would weigh about 20 lb. on Earth’s moon. A 150 lb. person would weigh about 28 lb. on Io, a moon of Jupiter. Use ratio tables to determine which moon would make a person weigh the most. Weight on Earth (in lbs.) Weight on Earth’s moon (in lbs.) 120 20 240 40 360 60 480 80 600 100 Weight on Earth (in lbs.) Weight on Io (Jupiter’s moon) (in lbs.) 150 28 300 56 450 84 600 112 750 140 A person on Io would weigh the most.

8 Pg. 46 Sarah and Eva were swimming.
a. Use the ratio tables below to determine who the faster swimmer is. Sarah Eva b. Explain the method that you would use to determine your answer. Time (min) 3 5 12 17 Distance (meters) 75 125 300 425 1 25 Time (min) 2 7 10 20 Distance (meters) 52 182 260 520 1 26 Eva is the faster swimmer because she swims 26 meters for every 1 minute, while Sarah swims 25 meters for every 1 minute. I made an equivalent ratio for each swimmer, and determined how far each swimmer swam per 1 minute

9 Turn-and-Talk Page 42 : Exercise 1 1 50 1 45 1 40

10 Page 43 : Max 1 2 5 9 55 110 275 495 1 1 1 1 + 1 + + + 55 + 55 + 55 + 55 + 55

11 How do you feel? topic.

12 Classwork: Complete “Exercise 2” on pages 43 (only for now) independently or with a partner (10 mins.)

13 Franca Milton Laredo Laredo 3: 1 , Franca 5: 1, Milton 4: 1
Pg. 43 Exercise 2 Franca Milton Laredo Laredo makes his juice by combining 3 cups of water for every 1 cup of juice concentrate. Franca makes her juice by combining 5 cups of water for every 1 cup of juice concentrate. Milton makes his juice by combining 4 cups of water for every 1 cup of juice concentrate. Laredo 3: 1 , Franca 5: 1, Milton 4: 1

14 Pg. 44 Exercise cont. Right away, we can see that Franca’s juice will be stronger than Milton’s juice because she has less water than Milton does. Now, we need to determine where Laredo’s juice falls. To get 6 cups of JC, then we would multiply 2 by 3 and the 12 by 3, so we would need 36 cups of water for every 6 cups of JC. Therefore, Laredo has the weakest apple taste.

15 Pg. 44 Exercise cont.

17 Ticket-to-Go (half sheet)
HOMEWORK: pg. 45 parts c and d

18 Accommodations Read or reread presentation or activity directions, as needed or after prompting Use examples to model and act as a guide for emerging learners
