2. Monday January 30, 2017 What was floating above Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 9, It was Jean-Pierre Francois Blanchard on the first manned hot-air balloon flite in American History. Observed by president George Washington, the balloon stay in the air for about 15 miles and 45 minute. Blanchards flight sparked national interest in ballooning. Its reported that he take just one passenger with him on the flight -- a little black dog!

Main Idea: Why does Beowulf decide to use a sword and armor to fight the dragon?
Main Idea: What doesw Wiglaf tell his comrades who ran during battle?
Hidden Meaning: Why do you think the Almighty doesn’t interfere in the battle with the dragon to save Beowulf (like he did during his battle with Grendel’s mother)?
Theme: How is the poem’s theme impacted by Wiglaf’s presence? Why is he significant to the poem’s central message?
Theme: Beowulf is adamant about fighting the dragon alone, even though he senses his death.  Do you think this emphasizes his bravery as a warrior?  Or do you think it shows foolishness and stubbornness?
Inferred Main Idea: Describe the is the relationship between Wiglaf and Beowulf.
