2 Friday January 20, 2017 Ellis Island, an immigration station in New York harbor, opens for the first time on January 1, During its' busyest days, thousands of immigrants entered the United States there. More then 100 million Americans can trace there roots to an ancestor who past through Ellis Island. Today, Ellis island is a Museum. Museum visitors can lern what it was like for 12 million immigrants who arrived in America at the turn of the century.

6 The Coming of Beowulf As we read, identify:
Recall: Who does Hrothgar’s lieutenant think they are when he first sees them? Why? Beowulf the Geats Infer: Why does Beowulf want to help Hrothgar and his men? Higlac Edgetho List three things Beowulf brags about. Infer: What do these tell us about what his culture values? Healfdane Hrethel Characterize the Geats who sail with Beowulf. Use at least one piece of textual evidence to support your response. Infer: Why does Beowulf decide not to use a weapon? What does this tell us about him?

7 ACT Prep: Subject/Verb Agreement
Once you finish with your Beowulf questions, try out the ACT tense consistency practice. If you don’t understand anything, or need something reworded,! I’d be happy to explain it to you in a differenplease let me knowt way. You may also want to consult the notes on the other side. After you read through the notes, begin working on the practice on the back (parts 1 and 2). Compare with a partner when you’re finished – if you both can’t agree on an answer, let me know 
