3. Foundation Apprenticeships are about closing the gap between the classroom and the workplace
Often, pupils who leave school don’t feel “work ready” and confident when applying for jobs
The FA programmes are designed to help you develop the skills, experience and knowledge you’ll need when you leave school.

10. Pupils attend college two half-days a week*
Course includes work-placement with a local employer
Attainment will be measured through assessments both in college and with the employer

23. On successful completion of the course, pupils will achieve a Joint Qualification Certificate for the Foundation Apprenticeship in their chosen subject
Many universities recognise this as an equivalent to a SQA Higher qualification as it is at SCQF Level 6

25. Foundation Apprenticeships allows pupils to be eased into further education or the working environment
In a study, more than half of recruitment experts said that apprentices taken on in the last five years had performed better than those starting with a university degree (AAT, 2017)
Nearly two thirds saying this will affect the way they recruit new staff
