3 How to use this tutorial
Please run through all the slides to give yourself an overview. Then launch the Si6000b, and click the surface microstrip graphic simply work through the example yourself. If you are not familiar with some of the features of Excel, you may find it worth taking a brief course to get the best from your Si6000b polarinstruments.com

4 Let’s see how Er influences Zo

5 First drag this down to make H
constant

6 Now fill a series of values in the Er field

7 Change the first two cells to 4. 6 and 4
Change the first two cells to 4.6 and 4.55 then press shift and drag to fill the series

8 Like this

9 This is the range of values you will graph

10 Now set up the graph, right click this data point

11 Select Source Data

12 Select Series tab

13 Change X axis labels from: $B$5 and $B$31 to: (Cells contain H) $F$5 and $F$31 (Cells contain Er)

14 Now click here to set the new range of values:

15 Edit the box that appears. To show the full graph you need to enter:
$G$5:$G$31 Hint- look at column G and across at the rows containing the Data ( 5 to 31!)

16 Click here

17 O.K.

18 + Drag the formula, remember to position the mouse so you have a black cross in the corner of the cell

19 Remember to label the axis: Click and type: Er

20 Now calculate and wait for the graph

21 What’s this!

22 An error in the table. Try correcting this yourself to see the expected smooth curve
