1 Notes Parts of Cells

2 Nucleus organelle membrane Nucleolus Mitochondria Endoplasmic Reticulum Rough vs. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Golgi Apparatus or Body Controls the activities of the cell AND contains most of the cells DNA. Controls the materials that enter and leave each organelle Produces/makes ribosomes for the cell Produces most the cell's energy (ATP molecule) using sugar and oxygen. A folded network or passageway that allows materials like protein and lipids to move around the cell Passageway that allows ribosomes to attach to it so it can make protein (rough). Smooth does not allow ribosomes to attach Receives and packages materials like protein from the ER and sends them to different parts of the cell and out of the cell.

3 Vesicle Lysosomes Vacuole What all animal cells contain. Cell function Cytoskeleton Small sacks (boxes) that carries products into, out of, and within a cell. Breaks down and digest food particles and worn out cell parts. A larger storage room for water, food, and waste within a cell. cell membrane, ribsomes, nucleus, and cytoplasm Convert nutrients into energy, provide structure for all life forms, and be the building blocks of all life supporting network of protein fibers that provide a framework for the cell within the cytoplasm
