I.A.N. – page 101 – “Punctuating Dialogue”
Title I.A.N. page 101 as “Punctuating Dialogue”.
Be sure to also add this title to your Writing Strategies table of contents.
When writing dialogue, remember these points:
Place a person’s spoken words inside quotation marks (beginning and ending).
Place the period, comma, exclamation mark, or question mark inside the ending quotation mark.
Capitalize the first word of dialogue.
Start a new paragraph when a different character speaks.

Punctuating Dialogue
First, add “Punctuating Dialogue Practice” to your Writing Strategies T.O.C. for page 102.
Then, choose one of the following options to complete on I.A.N. page 102:
Write a letter to your parents requesting a new cell phone;
Write a letter to administration requesting a new class schedule;
Write about a conversation you've had with friends at the lunch table
You must include at least five instances of dialogue!
Use your notes on I.A.N. page 101 to help you.
