Expectations Make the investment in your education and your future.
Arrive to class on time. Follow class rules. Specifically phones Pouches Write-up procedures and lunch detention Come prepared everyday Students are required to bring their 3-ring binder, loose leaf paper and writing utensil to class every day
7
Cell Phones The purpose of these guidelines are to provide strategies teachers can use to limit classroom interruptions due to cell phone use: 1) I will be clear and consistent in my classroom expectations for when students are allowed to have phones out. 2) Cell phone pouches will be placed on student desks. If a child chooses to keep phone in their bookbag and never gets it out - no problem. 3) No earbuds should be worn in the classroom. Cell phones may not be used to listen to music during class. 4) When cell phones are not permitted to be out, students shall store their phones in the red pouches. If they violate this rule, then follow level 1 consequences for insubordination. 5) Cell phones should not be left in the pouches when a student goes to the restroom. We do not want to provide an opportunity for a cell phone to go missing. Make sure the cell phones go back into the pouches when the student returns to class. 6) See your Alpha admin if you need support.

Homework Students will have HW quite often
There is an online textbook accessible from my website Students will be given page numbers to read and answer questions on most nights Homework may be assigned to reinforce or preview important information from class. Homework will also be work that we did not complete in class.
12
Homework Cont. Students will be assigned a certain week to complete their current events HW Essentially, a student will be asked to complete a mini-project on a current event from the week that they were assigned This will happen TWICE during the semester More to come during the 1st week of school
13
Absences Each absence negatively affects a student’s progress.
If a day is missed, the student should plan on coming during lunch ASAP to make up work, fill in missing notes, etc. It is a student’s responsibility to see me regarding missed time, work and grades. I do not hunt people down.
14
Late Work There is a difference between UNEXCUSED and EXCUSED late work If a student has an excused absence, they are given the amount of days that they missed to make up the work without losing any credit If a student has unexcused late work, the student may turn the assignment in (or an alternate assignment) before the date of the next test and receive up to a 70%
15
Testing Students will be given tests and quizzes on a regular basis.
Due to the wide scope and depth of the course, each teacher covers the curriculum in their own unique way. Because of this, the midterm and final test as well as historical skills (i.e., text and visual interpretations of historically related information) will be uniform throughout the teachers. Unit tests and quizzes will focus directly on what was learned in class.
16
Test Preparation How to study:
Review notes Vocabulary terms are great to study. Review past assignments related to unit being tested on. Come to SMART lunch and study. Study guides will be provided for midterm, final exam and some of the longer unit exams. We will do review before every unit exam.
17
Grades Grades will be updated in PowerSchool by the 1st and 15th of every month Students will receive quizzes and classwork/homework assignments back to study Tests will be returned on the day we go over them, but will be collected back by Mr. Watts If I do not have something from a student, it goes in as a zero. Stay up-to-date with PowerSchools to know exactly how your student is doing that day
