That means that before the bell rings, you must have all the required supplies at your desk. 2. Our focus this school year will be learning and developing our skills as critical thinkers, readers, writers, speakers, and listeners. how well you read, write, and communicate with others. The purpose of this course is to continue the development of Language Arts concepts and skills with reading and writing. The students will practice and take part in modified curriculum which will assist with their individual needs to achieve their best academic performance. Procedures and Policies Grade Scale Entering the room: Upon entering the classroom, pick up your composition book and student workbook, then proceed directly to your assigned seat. Take out any necessary class supplies and begin the Warm Up/Bell Ringer activity posted on the board. All students should be quiet and ready to work at the ringing of the bell. During class: Students are to remain seated, be respect for and ready to learn. End of period: You are responsible for the cleanliness of your work area. Heading of papers: Head all of your classwork/home learning (homework) in the upper right-hand corner of your paper. Your heading should include your first and last name, the date, the class name, and class period. Home learning/homework: Assignments will be posted on a weekly basis in the classroom. It is your responsibility to write down each assignment, ask any questions ahead of the due date, complete the assignment, and bring it to class when due. Makeup Work: Only students with excused absences will be permitted to make up missed assignments. You will have one day for each day missed to complete any work, tests, or quizzes. For example, if you are absent from school for two days, you have two days to make up that work. It is your responsibility to find out what you have missed. Tardiness: Under no circumstances will I allow unexcused tardiness. If you are late to my class three times without a pass, you will receive a conduct cut of one letter grade. Further tardiness will result in detentions, parent notifications/conferences and student referrals. Hall Passes: Restroom, clinic and office passes will only be administered for emergencies only. Utilize your time wisely between classes. Cheating/Plagiarism: To plagiarize is to “steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one’s own” (Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary). Assignment turned in MUST be your own work. If you plagiarize, you will receive an automatic zero. Consequences: Verbal warning, Change of seating, Parent contact (phone, , written note), Written warning (referral),conference The district grading scale is as follows: Letter% Scale Four point Range Interpretation GPA Value A and above Outstandin 4 Points B and above Good 3 Points C and above Satisfactory 2 Points D and above Minimal I Point F 0-59 less than 1.00 Unsatisfactory 0 Point Supplies 1. Personal set of headphones/earphones (sanitary issue). This is a must because most of all the computer-based activities and testing formats require headphones. 2. Composition book 3. Two #2 sharpened pencils at all times 4. Blue or black ink pen 5. Different color pen for grading 6. highlighter 7. College bound notebook OR 1 subject binder 8. Pocket size Dictionary 9. Glue Stick
