Course Guide – Pages 3 & 4 24 credits are needed to graduate 17 credits are required 7 credits are electives Any class you pass that is not one of the 17 required courses will be an elective. For example, foreign language or your fourth year of math is an elective.

Your counselor will enroll you in these application only classes.

17 PSH REGISTRATION PROCESS
January 14 – 27, 2011 – Online Registration January 27, 2011 – Thursday Last day to turn in Registration Worksheet and Print-out of your on-line registration to your Academic Lab Teacher January 28 – February 15 Counselors meet with all current 9th – 11th grade students to review requests, requirements and credits. Counselors will meet with each student in February (through English classes) after your Course Registration Worksheets are turned in and you have completed your online registration through Infinite Campus.

18 REQUIRED COURSES (Core Courses)
Required Courses for underclassmen are listed on your Infinite Campus Portal. Note: If you notice a course missing, please note that there are still some required courses being updated (until January 20th). On your Course Request Worksheet, write the name of the courses your teachers have recommended for you as required in (noted on your I.C. Portal). If you have questions about the course, please see your teacher or your counselor

20 Is Your Infinite Campus Portal Activated?
Everyone must have an active Infinite Campus Portal. Then, you can register from home or at school. The Infinite Campus Portal closes for registration on January 27th, so don’t delay. If you have forgotten your password or need help activating your account, please see one of our CRS’s in the main Computer Lab: During Academic Lab the week of 1/17/11. Ac Lab teachers: Ms. R. French with the names of students who do not have access to expedite this process.

22 For Rising Seniors - Class of 2012
Remember: Make certain you have met all graduation and college admission requirements relevant to your goals.

23 3 For Rising Juniors – Class of 2013
Juniors will see 8 required semesters listed on their Portal. You need 8 electives – make sure you have completed Personal Finance and Forces

24 For Rising Sophomores – Class of 2014
Sophomores will see 9 semesters of required courses listed on their portal. Sophomores may also want to meet the requirement for Personal Finance or Forces this year.

25 Registration Worksheet
Directions: Required Courses have been recommended by your first semester teacher. If you have any questions regarding the placement, please see your first semester teacher. *If you plan on taking a course that is in the Required Courses in summer school or at a different time: Mark it out ON YOUR COURSE REQUEST WORKSHEET and replace it with another course. *If you feel a course has been selected at the wrong level (example: Honors English or regular English): Speak with your teacher from last semester, your current teacher, or the department team leader and obtain a signature on the COURSE REQUEST WORKSHEET for the course to be changed by your counselor.

Directions (continued) 2. You must designate seven courses per semester, including required courses and electives. If an elective course is a year-long course, write the course name and number of the course for both semesters. Each line represents a semester. 3. You will also select four alternate courses for next year. Consider these selections carefully. 4. Please PRINT the course name and number for each selection.

Directions (continued) 5. A parent/guardian must sign a copy of the registration print-out through Infinite Campus and/or the Course Request Worksheet. Signatures indicate approval of the course placement and selection. 6. Completed and signed forms must be returned to your Academic Lab teacher on or before Thursday, January 27, 2011.

29 Next Steps REGISTRATION 2011 - 2012
Ask your parents and teachers about course selections and talk about your Five-Year Plan (page 8). Plan on attending Curriculum Evening on Thursday, January 20 at 7:00 p.m. with your parents for more information. Read about the courses starting on page 17 in your Curriculum Guide Start filling out your Course Registration Worksheets (at the end of the Curriculum Guide), Enroll for classes through your Infinite Campus Portal from January 14 – January 27.

30 Summer school information is
not yet available. Please check announcements and pick up forms in the counseling department after spring break.

31 CHOOSE CLASSES WISELY Make the best decisions you can in choosing classes for next year. Talk to your parents and teachers to help you decide which courses to take Year-long classes cannot be dropped unless you have failed the first semester. Check the prerequisites and grade level requirements for each course

32 HOW TO CHOOSE COURSES Do not choose classes based on teachers or friends; both could change before next year. Know that it is very difficult to change courses once they have been selected. Course offerings are based upon your registration and are not easily changed. Select 7 courses per semester List 4 different semester classes as alternates Challenge yourself with rigorous courses.
