6 Defect Module Window The Menu Bar
The Defects menu - contains commands that enable you to add, go to, mail, print, and export defects, as well as view defect details. The Edit menu - contains commands that enable you to copy, paste, or delete defects, find and replace field values, search defects, update selected defects, and find similar defects or text. You can also view and clear alerts for defects and flag defects for follow‐ups. The View menu - contains commands that enable you to set the display in the Defects Grid. The Favorites menu - contains commands that enable you to view a selected item in the Favorites list, add a Defects Grid view to your Favorites list, and organize the Favorites list. The Analysis menu - contains commands that enable you to generate defect reports and graphs.

19 Enables you to filter and sort the defects in the grid.
Setting a Filter Enables you to filter and sort the defects in the grid. How to use Filter Step 1) To perform filter operation First check if there is any preexisting filter. If the status is 'NO Filter Defined' then the user has NOT currently seeing filtered data. Click on ‘Set Filter Button'

20 Grid Filter Step 2) The Filter dialog opens. Now Let us do a filter based on 'Severity'. Click on the 'Severity' field button as shown below. Step 3) Upon clicking on the button, the 'Select Filter Condition' dialog opens up. Select the condition based on which one has to filter. The condition would be displayed in the condition field. Click 'OK'

24 Favorites can be saved either private or public.
Using Favorites Favorites in ALM behave the same way as that of "Bookmarks" on a web-browser. Favorites allows user to save filter settings to view again with just a single click. Favorites can be saved either private or public. Private – The added Favorite is available only for the current user. Public – The added Favorite is available across all project users.

28 Searching for Defects Searching for defects enables you to eliminate duplicate or similar defects in your project. Find Similar Defects- Compares a selected defect with all other existing defects in your project. You can conduct a search for similar defects in the Defects Grid, or before submitting a new defect in the New Defect dialog box. Find Similar Text- Compares a specific text string against all other existing defects in your project. Text Search - Opens the text search pane in the lower part of the window enabling you to type keywords and search predefined fields. Recommended Method Using the Defects Grid – You can type in the One Line Summary and search for a keyword.

To add a new defect – Click on the New Defect button The New Defect dialog box opens. Enter the relevant defect details. Note that a required field is displayed in red Click Submit

TO UPDATE A DEFECT Select the defect to update Select the defect you wish to update from the Defect Grid and either click on the defect ID or click on the defect details button. The defect details window will open. Add or modify the information for the defect details window. Click Ok

Adding Attachments From the new defect window On the left side click on “Attachments” Attachments Page This page enables you to add and manage attachments to ALM records. You can attach a file, URL, snapshot, items from the Clipboard, or system information.
