1 HOW DO I WRITE A NEWSPAPER ARTICE?

2 IMPORTANT RULES THAT MUST BE APPLIED
1- The goal of this activity is to write your own newspaper article on a subject you are interested in. 2-First , search for on line newspapers and read some articles (or parts of them) to understand this type of presentation. 3- Now it is time to decide what the subject of your article is going to be and begin gathering information. It is recommended you choose a real-life event.

3 4- The article you are going to write should include your opinion
4- The article you are going to write should include your opinion. This means that you can either show support of the subject you are going to present , or you can be critical. 5- The article should also include visual aids like photos or graphs or statistics, anything to catch the reader’s eyes… 6- Since this is your first written article, It should not be longer than 200 words (about 1 A4 page).

4 THE LAYOUT OF YOUR ARTICLE:
1- The headline (=title) should be catchy and grab the attention of the readers (“Zombies have taken over Hadera”) 2- The main photo (next to or under the headline) should relate to the title. 3- The lead paragraph should include the answers to the questions: who, What, where, when

5 Who was involved in the event. What exactly happened
Who was involved in the event? What exactly happened? Where did it happen? When did it happen? In fact, the lead paragraph should be no longer than one or two sentences. 4- Paragraph 2 – Explain How and Why the event happened. 5- Paragraph 3- Here you will interview one\two witnesses to the event (real or imaginary). When writing their comments, remember to use quotation marks.

6 6- Paragraph 4- State your opinion about the event you have written about. Remember, you can be supportive or critical. Do not forget to bring evidence (from the event itself or from other sources you have read) to strengthen your opinion.(“I believe this is wrong”…is not enough!) Remember! Paragraphs 1-3 are factual. Your opinion must be presented in the final paragraph and NOT before.

7 PERSONAL ADDITIONS The following items can be added to your article, but they are not obligatory. A subtitle – it comes under the headline and summarizes in short the main point of the event you will present. This sentence has to be straightforward and let the reader know what to expect.
